Graduate Assistantships
Helping you support your education
The political science department typically awards up to 10 graduate assistantships per year to students in the Master of International Affairs program and the Master of Public Administration program. A stipend and a waiver of tuition accompany the assistantship. All students applying for a graduate assistantship must have their GRE scores (verbal and quantitative) on file at the time of application. All graduate assistants in political science are required to take nine hours of course work.
Graduate assistantship application procedures
In order to apply, please submit the following items to the department:
- GRE scores
- Application for Graduate Assistantship
- Recommendation letter using the form for the appropriate program (see the Recommendation Letter Form for MGS Program and the Recommendation Letter Form for MPA Program)
You may also be eligible for non-teaching assistantships throughout the University. Graduate assistantships are offered in administrative and academic areas, and may involve administrative and/or research responsibilities. Students in the MGS and MPA programs are encouraged to apply for graduate assistantships.
