Fund in Honor of Dr. Alice Fleetwood Bartee

It gives me great pleasure to announce the establishment of an endowed fund to create an annual speaker series in honor of Dr. Alice Fleetwood Bartee.
Simply teaching for thirty-five years would merit praise for an ordinary university professor. However, as we all know, Alice was no ordinary professor. Perhaps only one faculty member in a generation can have the kind of impact that Alice had on the department, the university, our community, and, most especially, her students.
Our initial goal is to raise $250,000, with an ultimate goal of raising $1 million. Once the initial goal is met, we will establish an advisory board to facilitate the selection of speakers; speakers with national prominence in the fields of constitutional law, the judicial process, and legal education. While we may be asking you to serve on the advisory board in the future, today we are asking for your financial support. To support this project, Rowman and Littlefield publishers are reprinting Alice’s 2006 book Privacy Rights: Cases Lost and Causes Won Before the Supreme Court. As supplies last, donors who make a commitment of $250 or more will receive a copy of this special edition.
