The General Education Program at Missouri State University is the same for all undergraduate majors in every school and college within the University. There are 15 General Education Learning Goals (GGs) and each GG has various Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs) that are used to measure the learning of the GGs. The 15 General Goals and their Student Learning Outcomes are there to develop students capable of making thoughtful choices in order to be responsible global citizens. Resources for Faculty and Advisor use in General education include:
- Council on General Education and Intercollegiate Programs (CGEIP) — Faculty Senate committee that oversees the general education program as well as annual and periodic course review for courses in general education. Each course has a Course Coordinator that communicates general education goals and assessment of the GGs for the course with the instructors.
- General Education Worksheets — Advisement tool to guide students through general education requirements.
- Submitting a Course for General Education — Consideration of a course for general education needs to follow the requirements setup by CGEIP/Faculty Senate and includes an online application and evaluation of alignment to general education GGs according to the call for proposals.
- Model Applications — tools to help in the submission of a course for general education.
-
General Education Assessment Resources — Resources provide information to faculty to help them understand, develop, implement, and communicate assessment using evidence of student learning.
