Event Definitions
Academic Event definition
An academic event is related to a class that is scheduled on Banner where a student receives a credit hour for the class they are enrolled in. For these bookings, please utilize the following templates: Class Related Event Spring Semester or Class Related Event Summer/Fall.
***If the event will take place in a lab room, please use the template assigned to your specific department.
Examples are the following:
- Help session
- Test time outside of class time
- Review session
- Breakout session
- Extended class time
- Rehearsal for a class
- Music practice for a class
- Audition (class members trying out of parts)
- Final exam
- Final exam study session
- Tutoring session for class
- Thesis review

Non-academic Event definition
A non-academic event is not related to a class on Banner, this does not affect the credit hours of a student, nor is it an extension of a credit class. For these bookings, please utilize the Event and Meeting Services templates: Academic Spring, Academic Summer, or Academic Fall.
Examples are the following:
- Meeting for a group
- Open to the public
- Open to high school students
- Workshops
- Open Rehearsals
- Open Auditions (open to community)
- Tent Theatre
- Music recitals
- Department graduation celebrations
- Fraternity functions/group meeting
- Sorority functions/group meeting
- Club meeting
- Office meeting
- Non-Credit courses
- Non-Credit workshops
- Camp
- Rehearsals for performance
- Orientation department or new employee
- Meetings open to the campus
- Presentations open to the campus
- Off Campus guest/speakers during a class that is open to other classes within a department/campus
