Chair Report

  • Executive Budget Committee
    • See Clif’s Notes from May 16, 2014
    • Budget was approved unanimously and plans will go forward
      • Across-the-board salary raise of 1.5%
      • Funding allotted to all cost centers
      • Construction projects
      • New faculty hires
  • Master Planning Committee
    • New welcome center
    • Renovating PSU
  • Board of Governors Meeting
    • Focused on marketing report
    • Hired the VP of Marketing
    • Next meeting is June 20 in Kansas City – Andrea and Scott to attend
  • Sole Senators
    • Fourth place overall and won a Visa gift card

Chair Elect Report

  • “Proud to be Staff” shirt update
    • T-shirts available in the bookstore
    • $2 from all shirts go to Staff Senate Scholarship fund
    • Women’s cut shirts are now available
  • Next step was to offer more formal shirts with Staff Senate logo for order by specific departments/areas
    • Executive Committee to meet with the MSU Bookstore to see how this can get moving forward
    • Update will be provided in July

Secretary/Treasurer Report

  • Operating budget (A account)
    • Balance is $1,312.80
    • June Expenditures = $122.95
      • $62.95 for plaque and gavel to BJ’s Trophy Shop
      • $15 x 4 = $60 for gift cards to senators with no absences
    • Expected upcoming expenses = $850
      • $400 for Staff Senate video
      • $450 for catering for Staff Senate training in June
    • Expected balance = $339.85
  • B account – Balance is $365.89
    • Expenditures – $268.20 for PSU Level 1 Rental
    • Credit – $60 correction showing up, and Kelly has contacted Jennifer Severson for clarification on this unexpected credit.
    • Petty cash on hand is $125
  • Scholarship Account – Balance is $5,693.58
    • Set to Award for 2014 – 2015: $1,000.00
    • Funds Raised to Date in FY 14: $2,954.77
    • Based on current giving, we are likely to end FY14 having raised $2,994.77

New Business

  • Thank you to outgoing senators and officers
  • Incoming senator and officer ceremony
  • Email about confidential supervisor evaluations for staff
    • Could have a survey that goes out to higher level supervisors.
    • Brian Edmond – it seems like there was something like this about five years ago, so if we can find who did that and what resource they used, it would be good.
    • Janelle Melton – Supports the idea.
    • Sharon Lopinot – Need to get everyone’s opinions before we move forward with it.
    • Ryan Wilson – Wants to make sure it is meaningful rather than just something that people fill out and forget about (rating scale may not be as meaningful as open-ended responses).
    • Scott Fiedler – Student in I/O Psychology interested in conducting a survey of employee satisfaction at MSU – just want to make sure that the results are shared and used rather than just being kept in an academic setting.
