MINUTES
A regular meeting of the Staff Senate of Missouri State University was called to order at Plaster Student Union, PSU 312 at 1:35 p.m.

Minutes
The minutes of the open regular meeting of June 1, 2006 were not approved because there was not a quorum.
Officers Report

Ben reported:

Dr. Nietzel accepted the Senate's resolution requesting a Work/Life Committee. Dr. Nietzel appointed Dale Moore as chair and asked for name suggestions. The committee will be active for about two years.

Work/Life Committee - Dale Moore

Dale stated that the committee will be looking at other Work/Life programs at other universities. Basically, the charge of the Committee is to gather issues, then provide recommendations

Public Affairs Committee - Lisa McEowen-LeVangie
-
Lisa reminded the Senate that the Public Affairs Committee discontinued the noon time lectures because of lack of staff participation. The Committee is looking for ideas and also new members.

New Business
There was a short discussion about rumors of a new policy pertaining to prohibiting staff from external teaching duties. Ben stated that he hasn't seen any written documentation on this. Staff Senate Executive Committee will be meeting with the President next week and hope to find out more information at that time.
Ben asked Senators that if they can't make the meeting, please let him know. Several Senators requested that an email be sent to remind everyone of the meeting.
The next regular meeting is at 1:30 p.m. on August 3, 2006 in Plaster Student Union Room 313.
