Membership Types and Rates

Membership at the Foster Recreation Center is open to all Missouri State students, faculty, staff, active alumni, University affiliates and household members at varying rates.

Current students who pay full student services fees each semester will automatically be members of the center at no additional cost.
Students who do not pay full student services fees including those taking intersession classes, iCourses, and Internet classes will owe additional fees based on number of credit hours taken each semester.

Any Missouri State employee—full-time and retired—may purchase a membership to the Foster Recreation Center. Employees may also purchase one other membership for an adult member of their household. Children younger than 18 may only accompany members during family hours. Full-time employees may use payroll deduction for the cost of their memberships. For this option the employee must pay a prorate amount for the current month. There is a 30 day notification of cancellation. To buy a membership visit the Welcome Desk and sign the Campus Recreation waiver.
Full time employees have a $150 non-credit fee waiver that can be used with Campus Recreation. This can go towards personal training sessions, BearFit, lifeguard and CPR certifications. These constituent groups are eligible to purchase memberships:
- Active alumni must be a Missouri State University graduate and an active member of the MSU Alumni Association. (Active status is attained by making a minimum $50 qualifying contribution annually to the Missouri State Annual Fund.)
- University affiliates include part-time MSU employees, Missouri State Dining Services full-time employees, campus interns, campus ministers, and Police Sub-Station Employees.
- Household members include one adult (18 and over) living in the same residence or related to a current FRC member. Must show proof.
- To purchase a membership and sign the wavier visit the Welcome Desk.

Equipment Check-Out and Drop-In Use

Bring your BearPass ID, FRC Membership card, or your barcode on the MSU CR app to the Welcome Desk to check out any of the following items for free:
- Badminton racquets and birdies
- Basketballs, men’s and women’s
- Indoor soccer balls
- Pickleball
- Table tennis paddles and balls
- Volleyballs
- Jump ropes, speed and weighted
- Wrist wraps and gloves
Any items not returned 15 minutes prior to the FRC closing will be charged a late fee. Any items lost, stolen or damaged will be charged a replacement fee.

Drop-in use of the multi-purpose studios is available when no other activity or BearFit class is taking place. Reservations for these studios can only be made the day of desired use in one-hour time blocks, maximum 5 people, $5 charge. Please stop by the Welcome Desk for availability.
Reservations for the FRC will be processed with the following priorities:- FRC programs—rec sports, fitness, wellness, outdoor clinics, etc.
- Open recreation and drop-in use by FRC members
- Other University activities, including sports camps
- Groups outside the University.

Locker and Towel Rental

Foster Recreation Center members may rent lockers by the semester, academic year or calendar year. Free day-use lockers are available in all locker rooms and restrooms. You may use these lockers at no charge but must have items removed 15 minutes prior to closing.

Towel service may be purchased by FRC members and currently enrolled students with a valid BearPass Card at the Welcome Desk on a daily, semester or annual basis.
Once you have purchased your towel service, stop by the Welcome Desk to check out your towel. Locker renters receive towel service during the duration of their locker rental.
Towel usage guidelines
- Please return used towels to the receptacle at the Welcome Desk.
- Towels may not be taken outside of the building.
- Unreturned, lost or stolen towels will be the responsibility of those using the service and will result in a $5 replacement charge.
- Towel service provides patrons with up to two towels at a time.
Towels are also available on a daily basis for $1 per towel, per day.

Using the Facility

Patrons and guests have the responsibility to provide proper Missouri State identification or purchase a day pass to gain access to the Foster Recreation Center. Patrons and guests must read, understand and abide by all policies and regulations of the FRC and respond to and cooperate with Campus Recreation team members.
MSU students must show proof of membership by presenting a valid BearPass Card to gain access into the FRC. MSU students must show their BearPass Card to participate in Rec Sports. BearPass Cards and FRC membership cards are the property of Missouri State. Misuse of such cards to gain facility access is not permitted. Campus Recreation will retrieve misused ID cards and ask the person(s) to leave the facility. Misuse of an ID card may also result in loss of membership privileges.
All patrons and guests should be aware that:- Campus Recreation, a division of student affairs, and Missouri State are not responsible for injuries incurred during an intramural, recreational, aquatics, outdoor, wellness, fitness or other activity. Campus Recreation will provide first aid if possible and, along with campus safety, if necessary, will solicit transportation to a hospital. Medical expenses are the responsibility of the participant.
- Participants should know and be able to meet the physical demands of any activity in which they are to engage. Each activity has a certain degree of risk; some more than others. Campus Recreation STRONGLY recommends all students and/or members not covered by health and accident insurance to purchase student insurance.
- Aggressive, disorderly, illegal or inappropriate behavior or conduct is prohibited and may result in membership loss, a report to the dean of students and/or involvement of safety and emergency personnel. The Code of Students Rights and Responsibilities applies to all students participating in campus recreation facilities and programs.
- Food is prohibited in activity spaces. Alcohol, gum, tobacco products and illegal substances are prohibited.
- All guests must be escorted by a FRC member and purchase a guest pass
- Any FRC member can only have the maximum of three guests.
- All students under the age of 18 must have a waiver signed by their parent (FRC Waiver)
- The FRC may not be used for private instruction.
- Picture taking and/or videotaping requires written authorization. Stop by the Welcome Desk.
- In the event of an injury, an accident, illness or uncomfortable situation, please notify a campus recreation team member. In the event that blood is involved in an injury, participation cannot continue until the wound is properly cleaned and dressed, and any clothing with blood should be removed.

Anyone parking on campus must have a valid MSU parking permit or pay for metered parking. Metered parking outside the FRC is available on a first come, first serve basis. Campus Recreation is not responsible for any parking tickets assessed to our members.
Event parkingCampus Recreation will work with patrons to determine parking needs related to an event and will make all arrangements with parking administration for space needs for those without University parking passes.
For most events in the FRC, attendees may park in the visitor’s lot on National Avenue or at Bear Park North on Elm Street and ride the University shuttle. Parking generally carries a charge for off-campus attendees.
Off-campus FRC membersFor on-campus departments sponsoring events where off-campus guests are invited, the guest passes are free if there is no charge to attend the event. Parking meters are enforced 24/7, Monday–Sunday.
Please contact Parking Administration for details on each lot before parking.Off-campus patrons using the FRC on a weekday can pay $2.75 per car for a daily pass and will be assigned to a specific lot. No passes are required on weekends for the most lots.
