What is an Advisor?

An advisor is a full time Faculty or Staff member at Missouri State Unversity assigned to a student organization to provide them with a connection to university resources, and to consult with the organization on their processes. Advisors are hands off on the day-to-day operations of an organization but assist the student leaders as requested.

Importance of an Advisor

Advisors of student organizations are worth more than their weight in gold. An advisor can provide continuity, support student organizations, guide students through tough times, and enhance the good times. This supplement provides current Missouri State University advisors with the support and information needed to find success and satisfaction in the position. It also gives potential advisors a taste of what advising entails.

Interested in Becoming an Advisor?

Organization leaders are empowered to select the Advisor for their organization while they are being established. Though some organziations can struggle to find a faculty member who is interested.
