List of Honorary Degrees

No more than two honorary degrees will be conferred annually. The award ceremony will take place during Spring Commencement. Honorary degrees can be at the Baccalaureate level (for nominees with no earned baccalaureate degree) or the Doctoral level. The following options exist within each of these categories:

Baccalaureate Degree options

• Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)
• Bachelor of Science (B.S.)

Doctoral Degree options

• Doctor of Humane Letters (L.H.D.) Given to persons who have distinguished themselves in the humanities.
• Doctor of Letters (Litt.D.) Given to scholars in particular disciplines.
• Doctor of Public Affairs (A.P.D.) Given to persons distinguished in general service to the state, to learning and to humankind.
• Doctor of Science (Sc.D.) Given to persons who have made distinguished contributions to the sciences.
