You must be admitted to Missouri State University to apply for Bears Lead. You can
apply for admission to Missouri State on the University website.
All first-time, freshmen college students are invited to apply for Bears Lead.
Currently, our cohorts and waitlist are full. Our application will reopen when seats are available again.
Bears Lead is a program designed with the unique needs of first generations students
in mind. All first-time, freshmen students are invited to apply. Bears Lead will prioritize admitting students who are first-generation and/or Pell
grant eligible.
There is no cost associated with participating in Bears Lead.
Yes, conditionally. Students who are not actively participating in Bears Lead (attending
one-on-ones, monthly community meetings etc.) will not be re-admitted.
Yes, attending orientation is a requirement for first-year Bear Leaders.
Students who have conflicting classes, work, practices etc. can attend alternate events
in place of monthly community meetings. Students are responsible for providing proof
of attendance to their success coach.
No. Only one-on-one appointments and monthly community meetings are required. There
are other optional events and activities offered to Bears Lead students throughout
the academic year. Community service and other forms of community engagement are also
encouraged in the program.

possible to let us know that you will not longer participate. This allows us to admit
students on the waitlist.
2024 Bears Lead orientation will be Thursday and Friday, August 15 & 16.
