If you'll be a first-time, admitted students with fewer than 24 transferable credit
hours earned after high school graduation, you are required to pay a $150 enrollment deposit. This deposit
acts as your official acceptance of MSU’s offer of admission, confirms your intent
to enroll, and reserves your spot at SOAR (Student Orientation, Advisement and Registration).
Transfer students: If you’ve earned 24 or more college credit hours after high school graduation, you
will not attend SOAR. Instead, you must complete an online transfer orientation and
meet with an advisor to enroll in classes. See our Admitted Transfer Student To-Do List for a list of steps to take upon entering Missouri State.
Nontraditional students: Are you 22 years of age or older? Married and/or have children? Haven’t been in
school for an extended period? Planning on primarily taking evening courses? If at
least one of these describes you, then you may take part in alternative orientation and registration opportunities offered by the Office of Adult Student Services.
You can pay your enrollment deposit online when you complete the "Reply to Offer of
Admission" form via your application status page. Electronic payments are processed via PayPal, MasterCard, Discover, Visa and American
Express.
If you choose to defer your enrollment deposit, you can wait until your financial
aid is applied before paying it. You will also be able to register for SOAR and complete
other admitted student steps. Your enrollment deposit will just be applied to your first semester bill instead
of having to pay it right away.
If you’re entering college in 2025 and would like to defer your enrollment deposit,
please ask your high school counselor to fill out the NACAC Enrollment Deposit Fee Waiver form. Keep in mind this will defer, not waive, your enrollment deposit.
If we determine you are eligible to defer your enrollment deposit, you will have the
option to do so when you reply to your offer of admission. Please ask your counselor to submit the form electronically to Admissions@MissouriState.edu or by mail to our address:
The enrollment deposit is refundable if you’re admitted for the summer or fall semesters
as long as you request a refund on or before May 1. It’s also refundable if you’re
admitted for the spring semester as long as you request a refund on or before October
1.
If you deferred your enrollment deposit and choose not to attend, you must still submit
the Withdraw My Admission Offer form on or before May 1/October 1. Failure to do so
will result in a remaining charge to your student account.
SOAR registration opens November 1 for spring admits and February 1 for summer and
fall admits. If you have paid or deferred your enrollment deposit by one of these
dates, you will be able to register for a SOAR session. View the Register for a SOAR session web page for detailed instructions.
