Traditions Tour

6:00 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. (in case of rain, tours are cancelled)
PSU Bear Statue

Learn about the traditions on campus through this guided tour! Download the Traditions Bearer App to start earning traditions. Tours leave at 6 p.m. and 6:30 p.m.

Movie on the Mall

8:30 p.m.
North Mall (Rain location: Plaster Student Union Theater)

Watch a movie with SAC! There will be free popcorn and soda! Follow @mostatesac on social media for the official movie selection  announcement. 

Friday, Aug. 16

Yoga at the Gardens

8:00 a.m. – 9:00 a.m.
MSU Campus Garden 
(Park in lot 18 on south side)

Join us for a relaxing morning at the MSU campus garden. Yoga has shown many benefits for mental and physical health and can be a great way to tune in and promote self-care in our busy world. 

What to bring: water, yoga mat or blanket or towel, comfortable clothes (yoga mats will be provided if you don't have one) 

Knot it up with Macrame’

Create macramé keychains and develop friendships with new Bears that just arrived on campus.

FRC Equipment Demos

4:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m.
Foster Recreation Center

New to the rec center? Join us for fitness equipment demonstrations where we show you how to avoid the stress of learning the multiple pieces of equipment and get straight to your fitness journey! Demo tours will begin at 4:30pm and go every 15 minutes.

Plaster Sport Complex (Rain location: Hammons Student Center)

The best way to meet 1,000 of your classmates in one hour. It's teambuilding, comedy, and a lot of fun. You'll laugh, meet new friends, and become part of the Missouri State community through games and activities in a positive and supportive environment. A pep rally (we call it the “Rally in the Valley”) follows at 8:30 p.m. 

Plus, be part of history as we take a group photo of the class of 2028.

Join us for a pep rally and free pizza afterwards! Students will hear from different sports teams and watch performances by the Sugar Bears and Cheer Team to get excited for the upcoming athletic season.

Saturday, Aug. 17

See You Later Brunch

Blair-Shannon Dining Center and Garst Dining Center

Before saying See Ya Later to your student, join them for a lovely Brunch in one of our two dining halls The first two family members eat free. Each additional family member is $9.90. Student must have a dining plan. 

Even if you didn’t bring your family, this is a great opportunity to meet other students and enjoy a nice brunch.

New Student Convocation

This is THE official welcome ceremony for new students. This year’s speaker is Missouri State University's new men's basketball coach, Cuonzo Martin.

You’ll also hear from our university president, Dr.Richard "Biff"Williams.

Student Organization Festival

We have more than 325 student organizations—there's at least one that's right for you. Come meet representatives and find out how you can get involved right away on campus. 

Belong-B-Q

North Mall (Rain location: Foster Recreation Center)

Kick off the year by kicking it at the North Mall with new or old friends, & enjoy some free food, tabling, dynamic performances & giveaways! All are welcome! 

Concert on the Green 

7:00 p.m.
Plaster Sports Complex 

The 2024 edition of the PRIDE MARCHING BAND will present their annual "Concert-on-the-Green." This year's repertoire will include a mix of jazz, pop hits, patriotic and some Pride Band "classics!" It's an opportunity to get a "sneak peek" of what the 350-member PRIDE has in store for the season. The concert is free and open to the public.
