Resident Assistants
Resident Assistants create an atmosphere that encourages students to take advantage of all that MFAA has to offer.

Scope of Responsibility
Each R.A. will work closely with up to 20 rising high school juniors and seniors, assisting and supervising them in the residence hall. R.A.s will help create an atmosphere that encourages all students to take advantage of all that MFAA has to offer. They ensure that rules and regulations are followed. R.A.s also assist with the academic and/or co-curricular programs. Assignments may include assisting in MFAA classrooms, supervising groups of students at events, facilitating workshops or programs, conducting daily assemblies, and performing office duties. Candidates for the position would benefit by having experience working with high school students, but it is not required. Experience as an R.A. at a college or university is also helpful.

Lead R.A.
Please indicate in your application if you are interested in being considered as a Lead R.A. Below are some of the responsibilities for a “Lead R.A.” position. Additional responsibilities can be discussed during the interview process.
- Ensure that the rules and regulations are followed by students and R.A.s.
- Supervise R.A.s about their daily responsibilities and tasks.
- Supervise groups of students at events and workshops.
- Organize and facilitate R.A. workshops.
- Create, print, distribute, and keep track of student schedule for students and faculty.
- Work closely with faculty to ensure the timely arrival and departure of students to and from classes in various locations such as Craig Hall, Ellis Hall, Brick City, etc.
- Organize and hold daily assemblies in Ellis' C. Minor Recital Hall.
- Address issues related to students missing classes, health issues, or situations requiring immediate intervention.
- Establish real-time communication between the director and all R.A.s for situations that require immediate attention.
- Perform office duties when needed.
- Operate electronic equipment such as the projector during daily assemblies at Ellis Hall.
- Hold daily meetings with the director during the camp.
Salary, Housing and Meals
R.A.s will receive a stipend of $2,200 gross unless additional MFAA duties are negotiated. Additional duties may include serving as a lead R.A., assisting with presentations in Ellis Hall during daily assemblies, and photographing MFAA events/workshops.
Room and board at MFAA, orientation and meals at MFAA will be provided.
Travel expenses to and from Missouri State University for MFAA activities will not be paid by MFAA.
Academy Schedule
MFAA is in session for 14 days, 7 days a week; classes meet 5 days a week. Students, faculty and staff are involved in numerous activities on non-curricular days. Orientation is required and begins Saturday, May 31, 2025. R.A. move-in to Woods House is May 30.
