Thank you for your interest in joining the LOGOS staff! Here you can find descriptions for all LOGOS positions. Only Honors College students are eligible to participate as Peer Reviewers and Associate Editors. However, our Social Marketing Editor is open to students studying marketing. If you are from an affiliated campus, check out our Representatives section.
Our upper-level positions are usually recruited from the current staff. Check out the descriptions for the Chief Editor and Managing Editor roles to learn more. If you're a faculty member and want to contribute to LOGOS, see our Faculty Reviewer and Faculty Advisor sections.

Interested in serving as a LOGOS Peer Reviewer? Peer Reviewers read, assess, and help determine which submissions are ready for publication. They also discuss any necessary revisions to prepare submissions for publication. The workload depends on the amount and type of submissions received by LOGOS. Additionally, we encourage Peer Reviewers to promote LOGOS among their peers.

Email the completed application and any writing samples to logos@missouristate.edu. The application deadline is October 24, 2024, but we have workshops every fall, so signing up early is best!

Each Associate Editor leads a small team of Peer Reviewers. Associate Editors distribute submissions to their reviewers and review submissions themselves. Associate Editors act as mentors by guiding their groups through the review process.
If you have reviewing experience, consider applying to be an Associate Editor. Each Associate Editor leads a small team of about five Peer Reviewers. For each issue of LOGOS, there are usually around five Associate Editors.

Once the authors revise their accepted submissions, they go to the Copy Editor. The Copy Editor proofreads submissions and corrects grammar, spelling, punctuation, and citation styles. Additionally, the Copy Editor works with the Managing Editor to create the journal and to develop advertising materials.

The Chief Editor works side-by-side with the Managing Editor. Together they lead the review and publication process by managing the student staff. This includes organizing the hiring process, creating review groups, and meeting with reviewers. The Chief Editor also reviews every submission and assigns submissions to reviewer groups.

The Managing Editor oversees the reviewing process and reviews all submissions. The editor coordinates the publication process while acting as a contact for authors. Additionally, the editor leads LOGOS publicity initiatives and maintains the LOGOS website.
Responsibilities
- Supervising the publication of the journal
- Managing the student Editorial Team
- Soliciting student and faculty participation
- Promoting the journal to the campus community
- Managing web communications, including the LOGOS website.
A background as an Associate Editor and/or Peer Reviewer is desirable for this position.
Necessary skills
- Commitment to supporting the value of a liberal arts honors program
- Demonstrated record of academic research and writing
- Demonstrated record of student activities and leadership
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills
- Strong organization and time management skills
- Experience in public speaking
- Skill with Microsoft Office suite, particularly with Word
- Experience with publishing software Adobe InDesign and Photoshop preferred
- Experience with web-publication applications, particularly WebPress, preferred
- Previous editorial experience with student produced publications is desirable
- Knowledge of social media applications and their organizational use is desirable

Representatives promote LOGOS on affiliated campuses. They generate interest in the journal and assist students with the submission process. They may also apply to be a peer reviewers. To learn more, email logos@missouristate.edu.

Faculty Reviewers determine if submissions within their field are publishable. They also offer essential suggestions for revision. Additionally, Faculty Reviewers are also encouraged to co-author research with their undergraduate students. The undergraduate student(s) must serve as the primary author. Faculty Advisors serve on the Faculty Advisory Board (FAB). The FAB is an interdisciplinary group of professors. They guide the LOGOS staff throughout the publication process. The FAB's primary contact is the Managing Editor. Issues could include new kinds of submissions, copyright questions, and research standards.
