Tips for success
- Students with prior language experience may be eligible to begin at a more advanced
level based on dual-credit transfers and/or placement tests results. Students who
test out of lower-level courses may receive retroactive credit upon successful completion
of more advanced courses.
- Students may complete the Bachelor of Science in Modern Language with a concentration
in Chinese, French, German, or Spanish. This 8-semester plan applies to all language
concentrations. (Chinese program requires at least a semester abroad.)
- Students must meet with an advisor in their language area to design an advised course list, to include the Business Elective in Semester 5.
Students must select from ACC 201, MKT 350 or MGT 340.
- The Language Composition course (312) represented in Semester 5 above is a prerequisite
for all language courses after it and should be taken as early as possible.
- Students must take at least one Language Upper-Division course in literature and one
Language Upper-Division course in culture or history.
- Students must meet all other university requirements for graduation, to include 120
credit hour minimum and 40 credit hours of upper-division courses.
- Students wishing to earn a Bachelor of Arts degree in a modern language may pursue
an individualized major.
