Athletic Training Pathway - Year Two
By the end of year two, students pursuing the Athletic Training Pathway must complete the following requirements:
HPS Retention Requirements:
- Achieve a cumulative GPA of at least a 3.5; GPA may not fall below a 3.25 in any semester
- Accumulate a total of 150 hours of clinical observation, internship, or direct patient care experience
- Provide a positive clinical supervisor evaluation
- Attend at least one advisement meeting hosted by the HPS committee
- Become an active member in at least one student health-related organization (active membership includes regular attendance at meetings, participating in events, etc.)
- Provide evidence of endorsement of MSU Public Affairs Mission by completing a minimum of 30 hours of community service (please note - hours completed as a part of service learning or for scholarship renewal will be counted here)
- Complete the following courses with a "C" or better:
- ATC 220: Care and Prevention OR ATC 222: Introduction to Sports Medicine
- BMS 240: Introduction to Nutrition
- LLT 102: Medical Terminology
- PSY 121: Introductory Psychology
Athletic Training Pathway Requirements:
- At least 25 of the required 150 clinical experience hours mush include direct observation of certified athletic trainers
- Active membership of the AT Student Association
- No less than a "C" may be earned in any of the courses required for the Athletic Training pathway; BMS 307 and BMS 308 are the exceptions requiring a minimum of a "B-"
