Pre-Tax Parking Benefit

Beginning in the Fall 2004 semester, Missouri State University began providing a new service to all full-time faculty and staff. Starting September 1, 2004, the University began deducting parking permit costs monthly from payroll on a pre-tax basis. This results in a considerable savings to our full-time faculty and staff.

The Staff Senate and Parking Advisory Committee have requested this benefit in the past, and the administration is pleased to be able to provide it. While it is true that parking permit rates are increasing, paying for permits on a pre-tax basis eliminates or greatly reduces the net impact.
