When heating and cooling water lines are drained, the water/polypropylene glycol mixture must be disposed of into the sanitary sewers but only after receiving approval from the Springfield Public Works Department. Approval requires the submittal of an Application for Conditionally Acceptable Wastewater Discharge and a copy of the MSDS to the Sanitary Services Division of the public works department. The Director of Environmental Management will complete and submit the application form. In his absence, the form can be completed and submitted by the Superintendent of Building and Equipment Maintenance of the Mechanical Maintenance Department.
