About Alyssa
In May 2020, I completed my bachelor's degree in communication studies at the University of Northern Iowa, where I also spent three years as a student fundraiser. Connecting with alumni in that position and missing many “lasts” in my final semester motivated me to pursue a career in higher education. I am more than happy to answer any questions or concerns you may have about navigating college life, feeling at home in the Springfield area, resources at MSU to make your transition as smooth as possible, or any other questions you may have. I'm excited to be a part of your college journey!
Favorite place to eat in Springfield
I consider myself to be somewhat of a mac and cheese connoisseur, and Springfield Brewing Company’s is hard to beat! The portions are huge, and they have so many delicious topping options, but I highly recommend the pulled pork! As a true Midwesterner, I may or may not also be known for rating restaurants on their ranch, and SBC’s is a delightful addition to their fries. Truthfully, I’ve never ordered anything there that hasn’t exceeded my expectations.
Favorite thing about Missouri State?
There are so many ways to have fun and stay busy on a broke college student budget. In addition to free admittance to most home athletic events, MSU does an amazing job providing a wide array of other free activities for students. Missouri State is also located within a short drive of numerous lakes, trails, scenic overlooks and tourist attractions, most of which will only set you back a few dollars to explore (minus gas—which never fails to amaze me how cheap it is here, by the way!).
