Annual Statewide Severe Weather Exercise
How long is the exercise?
The exercise should take no longer than 15 minutes to complete. If your class or lab cannot participate in the exercise, we ask instructors to pause at 10 a.m. and go over tornado procedures and shelter locations with the class.
Resume normal class activities following that verbal review.
When does the exercise happen?
The severe weather warning sirens are tested once each month, along with the City of Springfield.
The exercise happens on the second Wednesday of each month, unless there is inclement weather. If cancelled, the exercise moves to the following Wednesday.
The State of Missouri also conducts an annual statewide severe weather exercise in March.
Further questions
During the exercise, building coordinators will monitor the buildings to confirm participation. If you have specific questions about your building, ask your building coordinator.
