Campus Security Authorities
Reporting an incident
Report an incident if you have a concern or need to report a crime. Reports help us track patterns and improve the safety of our campus.
Who is a campus security authority?
A campus security authority (CSA) is:
- A campus police department or campus security department of an institution.
- Any individual(s) responsible for campus security but do not constitute a campus police department or a campus security department.
- Any individual or organization specified in an institution's statement of campus security policy as an individual or organization to which students and employees should report criminal offenses.
- An official of an institution with responsibility for student and campus activities, including student housing, student discipline and campus judicial processes.
An “official” is defined as any person who has the authority and the duty to take action or respond to particular issues on behalf of the institution.
What are the responsibilities of a CSA?
A CSA is responsible for reporting certain crimes on or near campus to a specific individual or office. They also report any crimes that pose an ongoing threat to the community. The CSA is not responsible for determining whether a crime took place, or for conducting an investigation.
