Program Requirements

Depending on your emphasis area, you can choose a comprehensive or non-comprehensive degree.

You need a minor or second major for the non-comprehensive degree. No minor is required for the comprehensive degree.

Both options require field experience.

Field experience: A preview into your future

Field experience prepares you to become a recreation professional.

For your field experience, you must complete:

  • A 100-hour practicum.
  • A 10- to 15-week (400-to-600 hours), full-time internship.

Agency and university supervisors oversee your field experience.

Each one requires weekly documentation of experiences and research into the agency's operations.
