Osteopathic Medical School Requirements
One of the problems of gaining admission to any medical school is that state legislatures set limitations on the number of out-of-state students that can be accepted by a partially-supported state institution. Admission limitations tend to be less problematic for osteopathic schools since many osteopathic schools receive little, if any, state support.
Below is a listing of the current 20 osteopathic schools with web addresses and a brief synopsis of specific admission requirements with an emphasis on information important to out-of-state applicants. Note that several of the osteopathic schools have branch campuses.
Notes:
"SER" stands for Standard Entrance Requirements (SER), and they are as follows:
- 8 hours of Biology/Zoology
- 8 hours of Inorganic Chemistry
- 8 hours of Organic Chemistry
- 8 hours of Physics
- 6 hours of English
Class sizes and tuition (per year) are rounded and approximate.
Tuition, when given, is shown for out-of-state students. Be sure to check with the school's website for the most up-to-date information.
