Academic Appeals Procedures

Bachelor of Arts Requirement

1. First, a written appeal to the Degrees Committee. Note: for appeals of the 12-hour language requirement, a letter of support from the department head of Languages, Cultures and Religions is strongly recommended.

Undergraduate Exit Survey

1. First, present appeal to the Office of Assessment, Exit Survey Administrator, Meyer Library 007E, 417-836-6120, or exitexam@missouristate.edu, who will consult with the Director of Assessment;
2. If the previous step is denied, then a written appeal to the Associate Provost for Student Success, Meyer Library 116, 417-836-8346, or Success@MissouriState.edu.

DG/DX Holds

The student or the student's assigned academic advisor initiates an online request for a temporary removal of the Hold.

Student: Submit the online request from your Registration Status page in My Missouri State.

Advisor: Access the Student Information Menu link from the Faculty & Advisor Resources card in My Missouri State.

Academic Renewal

Auditing a Course

1. First, present appeal to the Registrar or Associate Registrar-Records and Registration, Carrington Hall 320, 417-836-5520;
2. If the previous step is denied, then a written appeal to the Provost or designee.

Pass/Not Pass

1. First, present appeal to the Registrar or Associate Registrar-Records and Registration via email to Registrar@MissouriState.edu;
2. If the previous step is denied, then a written appeal to the Associate Provost for Student Success, Meyer Library 116, 417-836-8346, or Success@MissouriState.edu.
3. The last day to appeal Pass/Not Pass is the last day of instruction each semester. 

Refunds

Grade Appeals and Academic Grievances

1. First, a written appeal to the Scholastic Standards and Revision of Records (SSRR) Committee. Please see, SSRR Committee Guidelines;

1. Submit a re-evaluation request through the Transfer Credit Re-Evaluation link in My Missouri State.

Commencement Participation 

Graduation Checklist and Commencement Eligibility

Students who wish to participate in a ceremony prior to their semester of graduation (except summer graduates who wish to participate in the preceding spring) may appeal to the Chief Academic Strategy Officer (undergraduate students) or Associate Provost and Dean of the Graduate College, (graduate students). If approved, the listing of their names in the commencement program will remain in the semester of graduation.

For undergraduate students:
