The Outdoor Adventures Trips program enables patrons to take advantage of the Ozarks' beautiful natural surroundings with opportunities for education and recreational benefits.
Climbing Wall
The Bill R. Foster and Family Recreation Center features an indoor rock climbing wall and outdoor boulder.
Campus Recreation staff are available to belay you as you climb to the top of our more than 1,000 square foot wall, perfect for both top-rope and lead climbing. Our indoor wall also includes a boulder area and cave.
Climbing equipment is available for rent at the Foster Recreation Center:
- Climbing shoes and chalk package $10 per semester or $1 per day
- Harness: Free!

Resource Center and Equipment Rental
Outdoor Adventures supports your outdoor pursuits by providing quality equipment at
reasonable prices. For more information about equipment and availability call Outdoor
Adventures at 417-836-5904 or stop by the Outdoor Adventures (OA) Resource Center
located on the lower level of the Foster Recreation Center. To reserve equipment call
our office at 417-836-5904.
Reservations and pick up times for all equipment must be during Outdoor Adventures
Operational Hours. Any times scheduled out of our business hours will not be filled
and will not be checked out.
Trip Leader Scholarship
Are you passionate about the outdoors and taking others outside? If you so, becoming an Outdoor Adventures trip leader is for you. In this position you will gain new skills, make new friends, and of course enjoy the outdoors.
The application has all the important information and dates, so please read it completely. These applications are due by April 3rd, 2024 at 11:59 pm. You can submit them by emailing a completed application and your resume to OutdoorAdventures@MissouriState.edu.
OA Clinics: Sharpen your Skills!
Outdoor Adventures sponsors a number of clinics throughout the year that focus on developing specific skill sets, teaching about different outdoor activities and more. Some of these clinics are also a great way to prepare for an outdoor adventures trip.
Our clinics are instructed by student trip guides, climbing wall staff members, resource attendants and select members of the Missouri State, local and regional community.
