Op5.09-3 International Transfer Students
Transfer Admission Requirements
Missouri State encourages applicants from around the world. To apply for undergraduate admission as a transfer student, please follow these required steps:
- The International Student Application and Fee
We invite qualified students to complete and return the "International Student Application" with the required application fee (non-refundable). Application fee must be confirmed before application can be processed. - Academic Requirements
If you have completed secondary school and have completed less than one year of postsecondary:
If you have completed one full year of postsecondary (minimum of 24 credit hours): You must provide transcripts for all postsecondary course work and course descriptions. You must have earned the equivalent of a 2.5 cumulative grade point average or higher on a 4.0 scale.
Official proof of any degree, diploma, certificate and/or transcript must be submitted for your file. You must request all postsecondary institution records regardless of location or length of time attended.
Official documents: To qualify as official, documents must be sent to the Missouri State University Office of International Services directly from the issuing institution. Official copies must arrive before registration for classes. We will also consider the documents as official if they can be verified online or if the issuing institution emails them to our office directly.
Transfer credit: If you hope to receive transfer credit for university-level course work done at another institution (U.S. or non-U.S.), the university will need syllabi or course descriptions of the completed work. Please note that the Office of International Services will only award lower general elective credits. To request department specific equivalencies, students must submit requests directly to academic departments.
- Proof of English Proficiency
Proof of proficiency in English is required for all applicants in a non-immigrant status, if their primary language is not English. Access a list of approved exempt countries. Applicants who have completed one or more years of full-time secondary or post-secondary study in the U.S. or a country where English is the primary language, or at any other accredited secondary or post-secondary institution where English is the primary language of instruction, may be exempt, at the discretion of the Office of International Services. Applicants must demonstrate a minimum English proficiency level of CEFR B2 for undergraduate studies and CEFR B2+ for graduate studies. English proficiency global examination options and corresponding minimum scores may be found at this link: 2023-09-06 MSU UG and Grad cut scores for English Proficiency Tests.docx. - U.S. SEVIS Record Transfer
You must request transfer of your SEVIS record if you are currently in the U.S. as an international student and are planning to continue your education at Missouri State University. The process to submit this request is facilitated through the International Student and Scholar (ISSS) portal. We cannot provide an updated initial Form I-20 until the SEVIS transfer is confirmed.
