Op1.02-12 Pregnancy and Related Accommodations

Consistent with applicable law, the University does not discriminate in employment or its educational programs/activities against any applicant for admission, student, applicant for employment, or employee on the basis of current, potential, or past pregnancy or related conditions.  Accordingly, students and employees may not be treated differently on the basis of any parental, family, or marital status.

Student Accommodations and Modifications

Reasonable accommodations and modifications may be provided to students with needs related to pregnancy and pregnancy related conditions.  If a student would like to request an accommodation or modification, please contact the University’s Deputy Compliance Officer at (417) 836-6755 or JuliaHolmes@MissouriState.edu to initiate that interactive process.

Employee Accommodations and Modifications

Reasonable accommodations and modifications may be provided to employees with needs related to pregnancy and pregnancy related conditions.  If an employee would like to request an accommodation or modification, please contact the University’s Deputy Compliance Officer at (417) 836-6755 or JuliaHolmes@MissouriState.edu to initiate that interactive process

Additionally, employees may be entitled to leave pursuant to the Family Medical Leave Act and applicable University leave policies.  If an employee would like to discuss available leave, please contact the Benefits team within the Office of Human Resources at (417) 836-5102 or HRBenefits@MissouriState.edu.

Lactation Spaces

The University provides lactation spaces to both student and employees.  A list of available lactation spaces on campus may be found here.

Policy Dissemination and Training

A copy of this policy shall be made available to faculty, staff, and employees in their required training and posted on the University website. 

Grievances and Complaints

If any person believes they have been discriminated against based on sex, pregnancy status, family status, or marital status, the person may contact the University’s Office for Institutional Equity & Compliance (“OIEC), at (417) 836-4252 or Equity@MissouriState.edu or file a complaint through the OIEC online portal.  No person shall be retaliated against for exercising their rights under this policy or applicable law.
