Competition Rules
Young High School Artist Competition Rules and Information
- Email Dr. Heyboer at JillHeyboer@MissouriState.edu with your name, repertoire, accompanist, and timing.
- There is no charge to enter the competition.
- All entrants must be present and accounted for by 9:00 am on the day of the competition (TBA, 2018) at Ellis Recital Hall on the campus of Missouri State University.
- Each entrant may provide their own accompanist. If this is not possible, a professional accompanist will be provided for them for a fee of $25. All pieces for flute and piano must be performed with that instrumentation.
- Each entrant must provide one copy of the score for the judges. It does not need to be an original copy.
- Only one movement of a piece may be performed. The time limit for the performance is 7 minutes, including taking and exiting the stage. Judges have the right to stop the entrant’s performance after that amount of time. Cuts in the music may be made by the performer.
- The results of the competition will be announced immediately before lunch. Prize money will be awarded at this time.
- The judges do not have to award all three prizes, but will be encouraged to do so. All decisions by the judges are final.
