GENERAL FUNCTION

The Coordinator, Magers Health Information Technology is responsible for establishing and maintaining the technological services available at Magers, including overall supervision, operation, and management of servers and network functions, and all computing support for Magers staff. The Coordinator, Magers Health and Wellness Information Technology assists in budgeting and planning for current and future technology needs, performs systems and operations tasks on networked computer systems serving staff. The Coordinator will be responsible for the intricate details of the EMR system and its comprehensive data system management, the system's security, and will hold a supervisory role for the information technology department. 

MINIMUM ACCEPTABLE QUALIFICATIONS

Education: A bachelor’s degree in information technology, health informatics, or other computer related field is required. A Master’s degree in information technology, health informatics, or other computer related field is preferred. An equivalent combination of years of experience and education may be considered for substitution of educational requirements.

Experience: At least two years of experience in a healthcare field related to the technology and security of electronic medical records through interpreting HIPAA compliance is required. At least two years of experience using a wide range of platforms and technologies is required. Experience related to the following: software development, servers, network functions, data management, and desktop support is required. Experience within a college health system is preferred. Experience within a university system is preferred.

Skills: Knowledge of information technology terminology is required. An understanding of medical/pharmacy software systems is required. Ability to interpret, recommend and administer policy and guidelines as set by the AAAHC, state, federal, and university is required. Effective communication skills and the ability to work collegially with a wide variety of professionals in a fast-paced health care setting are required. The ability to develop knowledge of, respect for, and skills to engage with those of other cultures or backgrounds is required.

Other required: After hours response to hardware, software, facility security issues with a goal of reducing or ensuring a minimal impact to continuity of business operations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Creates and updates access permissions and maintains user accounts to maintain application security through user profile management

2. Troubleshoots hardware, software, and system problems and resolves issues and questions by working with vendors.

3. Provides user support by installing, configuring, maintaining, and supporting computer-related hardware, operating systems, and application software for PCs, printers, scanners, and presentation systems.

4. Evaluates and recommends the design, development, and implementation of application enhancements and new technology. Coordinates, tests, implements, and monitors application updates and enhancements and new technology.

5. Develops and maintains documentation related to the system. Communicates system enhancement or changes as needed.

6. Oversees IT application contracts and equipment replacement.

7. Trains staff on updates and implementation of technology.

8. Has a thorough understanding of the business processes and flows to enable the analysis of business requirements and the development of solutions for the business functions.

9. Identifies and resolves gaps in business processes. Participates or leads security/authorization setup, user documentation, data interface design, data migration and reconciliation.

10. Functions as a liaison between director and campus departments and third-party vendors.

11. Supports enterprise-wide software and hardware application services in coordination with campus Cybersecurity and Enterprise department.

12. Provides back-up for facility operations including security cameras and card reader access.

13. Provides production support monitoring, troubleshooting, configuring, enhancing and advanced customer support.

14. Plans deployment and executes the implementation of new applications or system integration and testing.

15. Collaborates with executive team in the development of templates, data analysis tools, audits, reports, and other EHR enhancements.

16. Develops, reviews, and revises departmental policies and procedures in accordance with federal, state, university and AAAHC guidelines in coordination with the executive team.

17. Works with other university department’s operational systems to support university projects such as immunization compliance, influenza campaigns and requirements, registration, and bursar data sharing.

18. Acts as Security/HIPAA Compliance Officer.

19. Participates as active member of Magers Executive Committee and other committees and project teams as assigned by the director for the overall success of Magers Health and Wellness.

21. Remains competent and current through self-directed professional reading, developing professional contacts with colleagues, attending professional development courses, and attending training and/or courses as directed by the supervisor.

22. Contributes to the overall success of Magers Health and Wellness Center by performing all other duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervision.

The Magers Health and Wellness Information Technology Coordinator supervises part-time staff, graduate assistants, and student workers.
