GENERAL FUNCTION

The Senior Associate Director of Athletics/Senior Women’s Administrator is responsible for assisting the University's intercollegiate athletics program and establishing policies and procedures that achieve the parallel goals of development of quality, competitive athletics teams and support of the individual educational goals of student-athletes. The Senior Associate Director of Athletics/Senior Women’s Administrator assists in ensuring University compliance with applicable National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), athletics conferences, and University rules and regulations governing all facets of intercollegiate athletics programs. The Senior Associate Director of Athletics/Senior Women’s Administrator serves as the sports administrator for multiple men and women sport programs and provides leadership with goal-setting, performance management, and budget planning and monitoring.

MINIMUM ACCEPTABLE QUALIFICATIONS

Education: A Master's degree is required, with an emphasis in Sports Administration, Physical Education, or Recreation preferred.

Experience: At least five years of experience in athletics administration is required, preferably at a National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I level athletics program. Demonstrated knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations governing recruitment, student-athlete eligibility, and related functions is required. Substantial budgetary experience is required. Coaching experience at the collegiate level is preferred. Experience in fund-raising is preferred.

Skills: Strong oral and written communication skills as well as excellent interpersonal skills are required. Management and organizational skills are required. Computer skills are required. The ability to develop knowledge of, respect for, and skills to engage with those of other cultures or backgrounds is required.

Other: The scope of the position frequently requires weekend and evening work and occasionally requires overnight, out-of-town travel.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Assists the University's intercollegiate athletics program to achieve the parallel goals of development of quality, competitive athletics teams and support of the individual educational goals of student-athletes through management of the personnel, budgetary, facility, and equipment resources available to the athletics program, development of policies and procedures designed to assure achievement of internally and externally established goals and objectives, and continuous evaluation of individual and unit performances toward achievement of those goals and objectives.

2. Reduces the likelihood for violations of National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) rules and regulations, particularly those regarding student eligibility to participate in intercollegiate athletics, by ensuring that the athletics program is in compliance with NCAA rules and regulations governing eligibility and coordinating with other University administrative departments involved with student-athletes, (e.g., Admissions, Registrar, and Financial Aid) to verify compliance with NCAA rules and regulations regarding student-athlete eligibility and entitlements.

3. Facilitates the attainment of personal development and academic goals by student-athletes through engendering a philosophy which promotes those goals and establishes an environment conducive to both, providing opportunities for academic assistance to student-athletes if required, and monitoring the academic progress of participating student-athletes.

4. Provides leadership in the focus of the recruitment effort of the University's intercollegiate athletics program and ensures compliance with NCAA rules and regulations governing the recruitment of student-athletes by providing guidance and/or policies to team coaching staffs that engenders compliance with recruiting rules.

5. Develops strategies and initiatives in conjunction with the Office for Equity and Compliance to promote the value of diversity and inclusion in intercollegiate athletics.

6. Monitors and implements gender and minority plans that meet the requirements of Title IX and reflect the values of the University.

7. Serves as the liaison with the Student Conduct office and manages, in conjunction with the Director of Athletics, student athlete welfare and discipline issues.

8. Serves as the liaison with Residence Life, Housing, and Dining Services and assists student athletes with on-campus living arrangements.

9. Coordinates and approves team schedules for practice and competition which support the established goals for selected women's and/or men’s sports, coordinating specific game dates among the various athletics teams and with other universities and colleges, and ensuring that the schedule includes an appropriate balance of home and away games and that the required facilities (i.e., fields, courts, arenas) are available to support the schedule.

10. Develops strategies for marketing the athletics program that generate significant revenues and assures that sports programs operate within the subsidy provided by the University.

11. Facilitates annual planned giving by donors thus enhancing the University's ability to meet established athletics fund-raising goals by planning, coordinating, and supervising fund-raising events and promotions activities for intercollegiate athletics, including events such as various annual golf tournaments that benefit either men’s or women’s sports, All-Sports Auction, Alumni Athletic Week, and other various events as they are developed and organized.

12. Provides strategic oversight for select athletic department administrative support units (athletic training, equipment, and strength and conditioning).

13. Coordinates and oversees the operational process for home game management of all sport programs by supervising event management during home games, assuring that all event support staff are onsite with sufficient supplies and equipment and ready to perform their duties (e.g., ticket takers, concessions workers, program sellers), providing liaison between the Department of University Safety and Intercollegiate Athletics on matters regarding security, and performing other event day duties.

14. Serves as the sport administrator for multiple men and women sport programs by providing leadership with goal setting, performance management, budget planning, managing funds for equipment, travel, facility, training, or related resource needs, and exercising final authority over expenditures.

15. Collects and analyzes athletic department data and prepares reports as needed for the Director of Athletics, the Conference, or the NCAA.

16. Assists the Director of Athletics by executing initiatives and special projects, evaluating functions, practices, and the efficiency of facilities, and evaluating staff performance and providing leadership and guidance for personnel.

17. Promotes a positive image of the intercollegiate athletics program and the University by participating in community and professional organizations and representing the University, as a spokesperson for women's intercollegiate athletics, at professional meetings and on community committees.

18. Represent the university at various university, conference, and National (NCAA) meetings as the Senior Women’s Administrator within the intercollegiate athletics program.

19. Supports Intercollegiate Athletics by providing personnel administration responsibilities, coordinating searches, and serving as the liaison with the Internal Auditing staff.

20. Facilitates a work environment that encourages knowledge of, respect for, and development of skills to engage with those of other cultures or backgrounds.

21. Remains competent and current through self-directed professional reading, developing professional contacts with colleagues, attending professional development courses, and attending training and/or courses as required by the Director of Athletics.

22. Contributes to the overall success of the intercollegiate athletics program by performing all other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Athletics.

SUPERVISION

The Senior Associate Director of Athletics/Senior Women’s Administrator is supervised by the Director of Athletics and supervises professional, clerical, and support staff.
