Conflict Coaching and Mediation on Campus

The CDR offers conflict coaching and mediation services to assist faculty, staff, and administrators in managing workplace conflicts. The CDR understand the unique nature of the University environment and can utilize both on- and off-campus professionals to assist with disputes at all levels.

Conflict Coaching

A conflict coach works one-on-one with individuals who are struggling with challenging conflicts. The coach helps the client better understand his or her conflict and explore options for how to successfully manage the situation. Coaches offer clients a fresh perspective on your situation, help clients see things in a new way, and assist clients in brainstorming how they can best deal with conflict or issues.

Mediation

In mediation, a neutral mediator uses communication and conflict skills to help two or more individuals in a conflict talk about the situation and come to their own resolution.

Mediation lets parties:

  • Communicate their concerns
  • Come to a solution they agree with
  • Learn skills to help in future conflicts

Mediation is:

  • Fast
  • Private
  • Flexible
  • Informal
  • Successful
