Bear Launch
The Bear Launch program provides an opportunity for a select group of students to begin their academic journey early to prepare for academic success. Students will learn study skills, become familiar with campus and online resources, and explore the University community.

Requirements

Fall Intersession
- Register and attend Student Orientation and Registration (SOAR) during the summer.
- Attend the one-week Bear Launch Program. Students will move into their assigned fall residence hall early.
- During the Bear Launch Program, take a 1 credit hour class, IDS 118: Enhancing Learning Techniques for College and Life.
- Participate in all scheduled activities of the Bear Launch Program.
- Be an “Undeclared” major and work closely with your academic advisor to explore majors and choose appropriate courses for the major(s) you are considering.
- Comply with all policies of the University while at Missouri State University, including the University's Code of Student Rights and Responsibilities, Academic Integrity Policies and Procedures, and the Guide for Residence Hall Living. Your conduct record will be reviewed and considered for future enrollment at the University. An academic integrity or student conduct violation may also result in dismissal from the Bear Launch Program.

Fall Semester
- Continue under Bear Launch status.

Enroll and successfully complete 12-15 credit hours including GEP 101. You will enroll in a specific Bear Launch section.
- Continue as an “Undeclared” major and work closely with your academic advisor to explore majors and choose appropriate courses for the major(s) you are considering.
- Spend a minimum of 5 hours per week or 20 hours monthly in the Bear CLAW (Center for Learning and Writing).
- Students are required to attend two events or utilize two of the following resources: meet with a Success Coach, Career Resources Specialist, or attend a Student Success workshop.
- Complete 12 credit hours and achieve a Missouri State University GPA of 2.0 or higher to continue enrollment in the spring.
